App of the Week :: Yo Gabba Gabba! Party in My Tummy

We are big fans of Yo Gabba Gabba so I am super excited to review their new app by Cupcake Digital and share it with you all!  We love to watch this show and have had more than a couple dance parties in our living room dancing to the great bands and catchy songs that are featured on the show. In fact, we saw one of our favorite bands, MGMT, for the first time on Yo Gabba Gabba!   And one of our favorite songs to dance and sing along to is There’s a Party in My Tummy.  If you haven’t check it out yet – you must!  You can’t help but smile every time you see DJ Lance Rock the Yo Gabba Gabba! crew.  One year I tried to convince my husband to go as DJ Lance for Halloween but with no success.  Something about wearing a skin-tight orange track suit threw him off.  But I deter, the Yo Gabba Gabba! Party in My Tummy app by Cupcake Digital is as fun as the show.

The first page opens up with DJ Lance Rock smiling back at us standing behind the Boom Box where all the Yo Gabba Gabba characters live.  Yes, they live inside the boom box in Gabba Land of course!  You have the option to turn off the music, increase the sound, and turn on or off the voice.  Once you click OK and push the large green arrow – you are ready to have some fun.   DJ Lance tells us it’s lunchtime and time to eat.  All the characters, Muno, Plex, Foofa, Toodee, and Brobee, are inside the boom box ready to be played with.

When you touch the characters, it takes you to a new screen where it is just the character you touched (we touched Plex first) and it shows him dancing around telling us that he likes to dance!  And then when we touch his food, it brings us to a new screen with all the yummy foods he likes.  Such as yogurt, apples and strawberries, and granola.  We help feed Plex and once he eats all his food, he tells us to “try it, you might like it!”  I like that they are encouraging our kids to eat healthy foods such as yogurt, fruit and granola.  Next we see the inside of Plex’s tummy where all the food is hanging out.  You have to match up each food inside his tummy and once they are all in there – they dance around singing “there’s a party in my tummy, so yummy, so yummy.”

Your kids can do this with each character and learn about all the healthy foods the Yo Gabba Gabba! gang like to eat.  There are simple animations, like when you stir the yogurt around with a spoon, you can see the little face get dizzy after spinning him around and around.  Very cute!  The whole time each character tells us to try it – you might like it!  We have said this on so many occasions to our daughter and always end of laughing about it because we try to sound like the characters.

This is a really fun app that encourages healthy eating habits, has matching games, songs to dance around to, and a coloring section that offers several pictures to color in, save and share with other family members.  There are video’s of Brobee dancing around singing the song “There’s a party in my tummy” that will probably get the whole family on their feet for a little dance party!  If you are fans of the TV show you are going to love this fun app!

KATE's-TAKE-v2-3

New Addition:  We are adding some feedback from my little helper, Kate, and getting her “take” on apps, books, games, etc.  Here is what she has to say about the new app Yo Gabba Gabba! Party In My Tummy:

Favorite Animation:  “When you get to match up the food on the plate and then they all dance together.  I liked it – I liked their dance moves – they were kinda cool and weird at the same time.”

Favorite Thing about the app:  “How you can choose any of the Yo Gabba Gabba guys you want, whenever you want.  And I liked when you touched the food, their name is yelled out and everyone cheers.  Like when you touch the bread, “bread” yells out his name (bread) and they dance around.”

Rates It:  Out of the categories: Spilt Milk (so-so), Caught the Drift (good), and Nailed It (excellent) Kate gives it a “Nailed It.”
