Storm.main page

Storm & Skye and The Secret of the Car Wash is a magical audio-visual tale that lasts a little over 45 minutes!!! The story starts out with the narrator that lets you know that Storm, a young boy, has recently moved to a new part of town with his mum, and his step-dad Baldwin. Storm isn't too keen on this situation; having left all of his friends, and especially his dad back on the other side of town.   CastleBuilders BooClips recently released a really cute iBook called I Was Here First by Chen Cohen-Merary.  The illustrations are quite fun and most families have had this experience of a family pet who had to adjust when a new baby arrived.  Especially with dogs, who tend to be our surrogate children pre-babies!  I know our dog, Bear, was the center of our world until our daughter was born but luckily he was just protective of her and didn't have an issue with having to share his "pack".  I had a chance to correspond with Chen who resides in Israel to tell us more about how this story idea came about. Tell us how this idea for a children's book came about?  The idea of the story came to me from real life. My husband and I had a puppy long before we were married and became parents to our son. As long as we had only a dog - he was our baby and we treated him like one. After Amit … [Read more...]

Book of the Week: The Witch With No Name

SlimCricket.Slideshow_Book01_03_en

My good friends know that I absolutely LOVE Halloween so a good witch or goblins story is always a favorite around here!  Developer Slim Cricket of France has put out an adorable 3D  iBook called The Witch With No Name.  The quality of the graphics and animation are top rank and it reminds me a bit of Cinderella and The Three Little Pigs by Nosy Crow - it is that good!  Throughout the story you are able to touch the screen and fun animations and sound effects will keep the whole family entertained.  For example, we come across a  ghost hanging from the clothes line.  When you touch him, he says "Boooo" and disappears.  This is just one of the silly characters that show up from time to time throughout the story.  There are over 25 interactive pages, 7 games, and interactive ending and a huge surprise in store at the end of the story. We watch the nameless witch and Batina, her faithful … [Read more...]
