      The Importance of Reading Over the Summer Months Summer officially starts June 21st and the lazy days of summer are upon us.  But as parents we don't want our children to fall behind in their reading skills.  According to Ron Fairchild, Founding CEO of the National Summer Learning Association states that "Kids who don't have educationally rich summers will be nearly three years behind their peers by the time they reach the end of fifth grade... Much like we would expect an athlete or a musician's performance to suffer if they don't practice regularly, the same thing is true for young people when it comes to reading performance."
